H2..OH YEAH

Water is the key to our health, so choosing a good quality water source and bottle are a must to stay hydrated on your next adventure. Water is found in all tissues of the body and is considered to be our most abundant macro-nutrient. Water plays many important roles including, transporting nutrients around the body, improving oxygen delivery to cells, removing waste, moistening our oxygen for easier breathing, regulating body temp, cushioning bones and a number of other functions. But despite drinking water being the key to our health, most of us don’t think too much about the source of our water or how we bottle it. The truth is, not all water is created equal and similarly not all water bottles are created equal. You want to make sure your water is free of fluoride, a serious neurotoxin that can derail our bodies. Spring water is your best source when it comes to pure, clean water. If spring water is not available opt for filtered water. Our favorite at home faucet filter is this one from PUR. For on the go filters we like this Berkey Water Bottle. Yes, it’s made of plastic but as far as filtered water bottles go this is the best on the market. Both are inexpensive and get the job done. For water bottles without filtration systems, ditch the plastic (by ditch we mean recycle) as it pollutes the environment and and is laden with hormone disrupting chemicals like BPA. Instead opt for an eco and health-friendly bottle made from stainless steel or glass. Our favorite water bottle is this one from Yeti, it’s the perfect size and keeps your water cold for hours.

SNACK CITY B*$#%

Fueling your body with the right kinds of foods is a game changer when it comes to adventuring. This means incorporating high quality protein and fat into your snacks to to keep you full, balance blood sugar, stop cravings, and provide the perfect fuel for your cells (especially your heart and brain). Try making these Coconut Fat Balls or if you’re in a time crunch grab some Primal Kitchen Bars from your local store. Another great snack option is to pack your own raw, organic nuts and seed. All options travel great in these eco-friendly Stasher Bags.

SCREEN UP

What’s an adventure without a little bit of sunshine, right!? It fuels our minds, bodies, and souls and enjoying some rays is one of the best parts about outdoor adventures. But that’s not say you shouldn’t be smart about protecting your body when it comes to sun exposure.

Conventional sunscreen is loaded with chemicals, including parabens, carcinogens, and oxybenzone, an endocrine disruptor, that may increase your risk of skin cancer and may contain hormone disruptors. Our go-to non-toxic sunscreens are Badger, Babo Botanicals, and this DIY sunscreen! Find out more about vitamin D, sunshine, and how to choose the best non toxic sunscreen here.

GET SHADED

Finding the right pair of sunglasses is key to keeping your vision sharp and eyes healthy. Whether you are walking your dog or climbing a mountain, the single most important thing to look for when buying sunglasses, aside from looking fly, is to find ones that block out 99-100% of both UVA and UVB radiation. We both rock Zeal Optics, not only do they block out 100% of UV rays they’re also eco friendly and plant based!
